Short version: your courses and your progress stay on your machine. The desktop app sends nothing anywhere. This website measures traffic, and that is the only place any data is collected.
Ckourse runs entirely on your computer. It reads the folders you point it at, builds its course index locally, and stores your progress, bookmarks and notes in a local database on your own disk.
Your video files are never uploaded, copied off your machine, moved or renamed. There is no account system, no cloud sync and no server that Ckourse talks to in order to function.
The app checks GitHub for the latest release version so it can tell you when an update is available. That request goes to GitHub's public API and contains no information about you or your courses.
ckourse.com uses PostHog for product analytics. It records anonymous page views and which buttons get clicked — for example, which platform people download most often — so we know what to build next.
We do not sell this data, share it with advertisers, or use it to build advertising profiles. We do not run advertising trackers on this site.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and a handful of listing badges in the footer from third-party directories. Loading those resources reveals your IP address to those providers, as it would on any site that embeds third-party assets.
We have no way to see the names of your course folders, your video files, your notes, your watch history or your progress. None of it leaves your device, so none of it reaches us.
Ckourse is open source under the MIT license. If you would rather check than take our word for it, the source is on GitHub, and you can build it yourself.
